About Heat Treatment

Heat - is by far the most common corundum treatment. Depending on the starting material and treatment conditions, it can improve blue color and create golden, yellow, and orange colors in sapphires, remove dark violet cores from rubies, lighten dark material, reduce violetish or greenish tints, develop silk to create asterism, partially heal fractures, or remove silk to improve color, clarity, and transparency.
