Robert Arnauld D'ANDILLY, close to royal power through his family, had the protection of the queen mother Marie de Medici, state councilor in 1610, he helped to conspire against Gaston d'Orléans to strengthen the rise of the young King Louis XIII.
he was close at the end of his life to Anne of Austria, Queen of France.
The Condemnation of Jansenism, of which he was an ardent defender and promoter, ended up comforting him in his solitude and his rejection of worldliness.
He was passionate about arboriculture,
He encouraged Racine to persevere in poetry.
He was active in disseminating PASCAL’s “Provincial Letters. ”
Of a deep spirituality, he was in contact with Bérulle, Saint-
Cyran, François de sales.
