Robert Dumont-Smith FRSA, British 1908-1994 - Figures above a waterfall; oil on board, inscribed on label on the reverse of the frame, 61 x 91.5 cm (ARR) Robert Dumont-Smith was born in Croydon, the son of an émigré American artist. He exhibited at the R.B.A. until the outbreak of WWII, specialising in still lives, landscapes and marine scenes. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 1961 and exhibited at a number of institutions including the R.A., Foyles Art Gallery, Liberty's and the Paris Salon. His autobiography was edited by his partner Joan Crole and published in 1999.
