This Robert Jordan piece won the 19th Missouri Art Prize from the Society of Independent Artists in 1963. Its masterful use of tone and perspective perfectly captures the still air of a cold, winter's morning. It was also on display in the St. Louis City Hall in the 1970's. It was also featured piece in the 1963 calendar by the Art Museum.

Jordan was a tenured professor of art at Washington University in St. Louis for twenty-five years. His pieces can be found at the National Museum of American Art, the Addison Gallery of American Art, the Boston Public Library Collection, and the National Air and Space Museum. His work was particularly celebrated for his landscape works and his dedication to showing what he believed to be the beauty in life.
