Biographies
- Roberto Lazzarini was born in Massarosa in 1951, his roots are firmly branched out in Versilia, one step away from the sea. His artistic journey began from a young age, in continuous research and experimentation, those who know him personally would say: a troubled soul that is not opposed to an artistic soul. The first expressionist works already highlight a strong personality and a creative impetus that is revealed in the use of color. The color mixes are energetic, decisive, often contrasting, the mixture is rich and material. For many years, Lazzarini was unable to detach himself completely from figuration, he painted men, houses, trees, rivers, animals, placed in a very particular space, where color predominates over shapes. His paintings have no compositional order and do not follow the rules of perspective, they are images of the mind and of internal reality that materialize on the canvas in no particular order, in a spontaneous and gestural way, there is no preparatory drawing, there is no scheme rational, the idea comes out bursting and invades the space of the canvas. Lazzarini uses the spatula, preferring it to the brush, because the sign is clear, the gesture expresses strength and determination and there is no turning back. As the years pass, he gradually moves away from figurative representation and begins the path of abstraction, where he seems to have found his way home. Never has color been more expressive, the gesture fast and confident, the shapes emerge from the depth of the chromatic combinations in a continuous overlapping. The collages of 2008 mark the transition towards the search for a depth or three-dimensionality that is no longer illusion and appearance, color expertly dosed on the two-dimensionality of the surface. With these works, the canvases attached and superimposed on each other emerge from the painting, creating real, if slightly perceptible, shadows and reliefs.
- Ada Alexandrova was born in Ust Kamenogorsk in 1984, her work occupies a point where the distinction between realism and abstraction dissolves, it spreads in fluid strategies infused by the doubts that the practice of painting raises. Intersections and contradictions bring certain basic structures into play, without allowing them to harden into ideology. She is convinced in the paradox that confirms a belief: a free coincidence that transcends the opposition between reason and intuition. The artist's stylistic and thematic diversity includes a consistent collection of ideas that she has come to express with ever greater precision. He manages to recover a daily, but always critical, practice. Painting is the only truth surrounded by many others; his works are heterogeneous models that allow, even demand, perpetual change and mutation. He has been working in Italy for some time and creates creations together with master Roberto Lazzarini.
