The thick plates of armoured dinosaurs were used for protection against their fierce predatory contemporaries, such as T. rex. The present massive scute, displaying dark brown coloration with some light calcite, is from the back of a very large Euoplacephalus ankylosaurus. Euoplacephalus was one the last dinosaurs alive at the time of the final extinction of the dinosaurs, 65 million years ago. Measuring 5 x 3 1/2 x 2 ½in
