Rococo Revival Walnut Triple-Arched Sofa

Description: American Rococo Revival walnut sofa with a continuous triple-arched back framed by molded rails and three carved crests. The higher central crest combines scrolling foliage, flowers and a raised oval cabochon, echoed by smaller ornaments over the side arches and at the center of the serpentine seat rail. Padded arms terminate in carved walnut handholds above cabriole front legs. Later gold damask upholstery has a deeply button-tufted back and a broad upholstered seat, following the undulating outline of the exposed frame.
Dimensions: 41 in. H, 73 in. W, 21 in. D as previously recorded; seat height 15 in.
