This is a rare example of a "Bart Simpson Submariner", its nickname resulting from the fact that the Rolex coronet on the dial is a stubbier shape that resembles the head of Bart Simpson (the cartoon character from the world-famous television show, "The Simpsons"). These "Bart Subs" were the last glossy dial Submariners made and feature "gilt" (gold) text on the dial. The lacquer on "Bart Sub" dials would often change color over time to a "tropical", or brownish, worn look. Moreover, the luminous plots on the dial have aged to a warm, creamy color. The case is full and substantial, exhibiting only light signs of polish. A beautiful and appropriately "aged" example for any Rolex sport watch collector.
