CIRCA: 2001
REF.: 116519
CASE NUMBER: K449477
CASE MATERIAL: 18K white gold
CASE DIMENSIONS: 40 mm diameter
DIAL: Silver dial with subdials
STRAP MATERIAL: Rolex black leather strap with Rolex 18K white gold fold-over clasp, ref. 16519
STRAP SIZE: 7-1/4 inches
MOVEMENT: Automatic
FUNCTIONS: Time and chronograph
CALIBER: 4130
The present watch is an uncommon Daytona 116519 in a white gold case. This reference was one of the first to feature caliber 4130 developed in-house by Rolex. The earlier movement, developed by Zenith and modified by Rolex, was used in all Daytona watches until 2000, when it was replaced by caliber 4130.
The dial, which features Arabic numerals facing toward the center post, has an unusual discoloration on the bottom half. The result is a beautiful piece of art in addition to a fine timepiece. The beautiful imagery of the dial combined with one of the first implementations of the Rolex in-house chronograph caliber make this watch a rare find indeed. Accompanied by original presentation and outer boxes, warranty papers, user manual and hang tag.
