Condition Report:
The movement is in working condition at the time of cataloguing. The hands are replaced and reacting to UV. Some minor loss to the lumes at 3 o'clock. The lumes are not reacting under UV. Otherwise the dial is in good overall condition. The case is likely polished, with surface wear and dings throughout. Light scuffs on the case band at 4 o'clock. Two dents on the case back at 2 o'clock, dings and surface wear throughout. There is pitting between the lugs. The case back inscribed with a personal message. The 7206 bracelet with 58 endlinks with light surface wear.

Catalogue Note:
Towards the end of the 1960s, Rolex would move away from using gilt glossy dials for the reference 1016, instead introduced black matte dials which are also loved by collectors. To the best of our knowledge, the present example belongs to the Mark 1 matte dial and features so called "fat lumes", for the rather larger size on 3, 6 and 9 indexes. Its case back is inscribed with a personal message as well, further enhancing its charm.
