There are Submariners, and there are Submariners. This one is the latter. The "Red" Submariner is one of the most sought-after vintage Rolex referencesÑthe very first to incorporate a date on the heels of the non-date Submariner references, the 5512 and 5513. This example has a gorgeous, slightly faded dial with creamy patinated indexes and hands. Red submariners were produced over a period of about eight years with six different dial types. This dial is a Mark 4, the very first with a feet first depth rating and characteristic "open 6" numerals.
