Case: The case is in overall good condition with surface wear throughout visible to the naked eye. The bracelet is in equivalent condition.

Dial: The sodalite dial is in overall excellent condition and is intact.

Movement: The movement is running at time of cataloging, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement.

Catalogue Note:
The Rolex Daytona is with no doubt one of the most beloved timepieces ever made. In 2000, the firm released their very first Daytona featuring an in-house self-winding chronograph movement cal. 4130. Reference 116509, housed in caliber 4130, was made in white gold and offered in many different dial configurations. This present reference 116509 is fitted with a beautiful royal blue sodalite dial, and also adorned with 8 applied round brilliant cut diamonds at the hour markers. Sodalite is in fact a waxy crystalline mineral with a royal blue and white vein structure. The material previously made appearances in Rolex’s special offerings, but only in the Datejust and Day-Date lines. Sodalite entered the Daytona line in the reference 16519 which utilized a Zenith movement and was only sold on a leather deployant. For a full bracelet, this latter 116509 is the only sodalite Daytona reference.
