Condition Report:
Case: The case is in overall good condition with some light surface scratches throughout visible to the naked eye and previous signs of light polishing. A couple of small nicks rubbed over by the polish. The lugs still retain strong proportions. The case back with the original protective sticker. The bracelet is in equivalent condition and is stamped '78360' and end links stamped '580', clasp stamped 'I6'.

Dial: The dial is in overall very good condition. Service hands.

Movement: The movement is running at time of cataloging, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement.

Catalogue Note:
The Rolex GMT Master reference 16750 superseded the reference 1675 in 1981 and was produced until 1988. This is quite a short production period for a Rolex model, and it is after its discontinuation that the watch has been identified as a transitional model. The main innovations were prompted by the new caliber 3075 featuring a quick-set date and hacking seconds. The second series 16750, such as the present lot, also introduced a new luxurious touch with the white gold circling to the tritium dial indexes. The present watch, manufactured in 1984, features a striking glossy black dial which is complemented by the pepsi (red and blue) bezel.
