The Rolex Submariner reference 16618 was produced from 1988 to 2008. It shared the same newly introduced calibre 3135, which included a practical hacking seconds function and quick date setting. Notably, the ref. 16618 was the final generation of gold Submariner models to feature the slimmer traditional case and the aluminum bezel insert. Its successor, the ref. 116618, showcased a maxi-case design with a ceramic bezel insert and a non-metallic homogeneous blue dial.
