In 1969, Rolex concurrently launched reference 6263 and 6265, replacing the first ever Oyster Cosmograph Daytona reference 6240 (see lot 176). Reference 6263 is easily distinguished by its acrylic tachometer bezel and screw down pushers.
The reference 6263 was manufactured for almost twenty years. The present example dates back to 1978 and remains in superb condition. The silvered dial with the black contrasting bezel and subsidiary dials is a staple piece when searching for the perfect Daytona.
