\r
A left-hand drive and well-maintained Rolls-Royce Phantom V limousine with a fully aluminum body by H. J. Mulliner Park Ward.
\r
The handmade Phantom V was built between 1959 and 1968 and was assembled entirely according to the wishes of the first owner, so not one is the same. In the 9 years of production, 151 units left the factory with this H. J. Mulliner Park Ward body. The later version offered here has a slightly more sloping windshield, larger rear lights, chrome window pillars on the doors and a sharper-lined trunk. This final form was so successful that it was largely retained for the later Phantom 6 examples until 1992, but unfortunately without the suicide doors that this Phantom 5 still had.
\r
Supplied as standard from 1963 with double headlights and revised front. Only a small portion of these were left hand drive and those are the most sought after examples by collectors. The entire aluminum body is of course a big advantage compared to the normal steel ones.
\r
Almost all Phantom V models were purchased by prominent people. John Lennon of the Beatles owned two. A black one that was later painted in the well-known psychedelic color scheme and a white one like the one offered here. Of course, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2 also had two available for her transportation.
\r
Elvis Presley, Elton John, King Olav of Norway, President Tito of Yugoslavia, the Shah of Iran and Imelda Marcos of the Philippines also had one. But former dictators also owned one, including Nicolae Ceausescu of Romania.
\r
The Rolls-Royce offered here was delivered new in the USA in January 1964 to Mrs. M. T. Curtiss. The car came to Europe in 1996 and underwent a thorough restoration. The Phantom remained in the possession of the same private Spanish owner for 27 years.
\r
Last year the car was brought to the Netherlands and completely revised by a renowned Rolls-Royce specialist. In particular, the technology has now been completely overhauled. The matching V8 has been partly overhauled and runs powerfully and very nicely.
\r
The automatic gearbox is fully checked and shifts well through its 4 gears. The complete braking system has been completely overhauled, resulting in the car driving again as a good classic Rolls should drive.
\r
The costs of these overhauls were almost €20,000 and of course these maintenance invoices are included with the car.
\r
The white paint was repainted 30 years ago but is still beautifully shiny. Of course there are minor signs of wear after all these years (see the photos) , but the Rolls still has a sleek paint job and all doors close like a safe.
\r
All windows are green tinted glass, which is a nice contrast with the chrome of the car and the white paint. The interior is equipped with the well-known beautiful glossy burr walnut wood. The 60-year-old original Connolly leather for the driver on the front seats has patina and the rear upholstery has "West of England" velour.
\r
There is a separation window and the original cabinet with two crystal bottles and glasses. The electrical operation of the separation window is currently disconnected.
\r
The four door windows can also be operated electrically and work well. The thick diagonal white-wall tires have more than sufficient profile. All the chrome and stainless steel on the car is in excellent condition.
\r
The documents included with delivery are a valid Dutch license plate, the accompanying original complete manual for the Phantom V including all detailed diagrams and of course the invoices for the extensive recent maintenance. There are also 2 sets of keys with the car.
\r
We would like you to come and view the car and test drive it. The car is used regularly and is insured. It is a good, impressively large and beautiful Phantom, but of course it remains a classic. If something is not clear, you can also request a video via Catawiki and we will ensure that you receive it.
