Born and raised in Switzerland’s Vallée de Joux, Romain Gauthier approached watchmaking through precision mechanics and engineering before founding his eponymous manufacture in Le Sentier in 2005. From the outset, his watches have been distinguished by proprietary movement construction, sophisticated component design and meticulous hand finishing.
The C by Romain Gauthier translates this philosophy into a distinctly contemporary form. Reference MON00580 combines a 41 mm Grade 5 titanium case with the manufacture’s first fully integrated metal bracelet, also crafted entirely from titanium. Its sandblasted grey titanium dial, off centred subsidiary seconds and subtle blue accents create an architectural, almost monochromatic appearance, while alternating polished and satin finished surfaces bring definition to the sculpted case and bracelet.
Through the sapphire crystal case back, the manually wound in house movement reveals Grade 5 titanium bridges inspired by the traditional finger bridge architecture of Vallée de Joux watchmaking and extensively finished by hand. Modern in material and architecture yet deeply traditional in its execution, the C by Romain Gauthier brings the craftsmanship of the Vallée de Joux into a thoroughly contemporary sports watch.
