Roman Bronze / Brass Horse Fibulae (3)

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A fine group of two cast-bronze and one cast-brass stylized horse fibulae with slender bodies, bar-shaped legs, and petite tails. The brass horse has a very thin tail as well as several stamped concentric circles. One bronze horse is missing its original pin and has incised lines denoting the hair, and the other as a high-arching neck and a stamped circular eye. Lustrous patina envelops each fibula. Size (circular eye): 1.625" L x 0.875" H (4.1 cm x 2.2 cm).
