Roman Bronze / Copper Socketed Arrowheads (12)

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A nice ensemble of 10 socketed arrowheads of petite sizes, each forged from either bronze or copper. Three arrowheads have diamond profiles with protruding fins and flush socketing shafts. Four arrowheads have similar diamond-shaped profiles but with their socketing shafts protruding slightly from the bases. Three additional arrowheads have tapered triangular bodies bearing fins with lower tips projecting off the bases. All are covered in thick layers of green and brown patina. Size of largest: 1.25" L x 0.4" W (3.2 cm x 1 cm)

Provenance: ex-estate of John Piscopo, San Diego, California, USA, 1990's or earlier. Mr. Piscopo was one of the largest collectors of ancient weapons in the US with a collection that spanned all cultures, all ages.

Condition Report: All pieces have minor nicks and encrustations, with chipping to lower tips of some arrowheads and socketing shaft rims on others. Great patina throughout.
