Roman Bronze Scoop w/ Ram Head Finial

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A fine cast-bronze scoop with a concave head and a slender handle with spiraled grooves. The curved finial displays a stylized ram head boasting a thick snout, petite eyes, and a prominent pair of curling horns. A fine example covered in thick layers of green and brown patina. Size: 1.875" W x 9.25" H (4.8 cm x 23.5 cm); 10.125" H (25.7 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: ex-private Superior, Colorado, USA collection acquired before 1990

Condition Report: Slight bending to overall form of handle, softening to some finer details on ram head finial, with minor abrasions, and thick encrustations, otherwise intact and very good. Nice earthen deposits as well as great green and brown patina throughout.
