Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A lengthy bronze hair pin, its body displaying a pointed bottom portion leading to a twisting upper section. The topmost area of the pin is spiralized and roughly resembles a beehive. It also boasts a thick layer of verdant-green patina across all surfaces. Used to secure the elaborate hairstyles characteristic of Roman-era women, this would have been a well-used fashion accessory! Comes with custom wooden display stand. Size: 5.75" H (14.6 cm); 6.125" H (15.6 cm) on included custom stand.
