Roman / Celtic Bronze Penannular Fibula / Brooch

Northern Europe, Celtic or Roman/Romano-Belgic Britain, ca. 1st century BCE to 1st century CE. A fine example of a penannular brooch, cast from bronze, with a pin wrapped around the ovoid form and two folded over, spiral-shaped terminals. This type of brooch was classified by Fowler as B1, and they are known from hoards at Batheaston (near Bath) and Gussage All Saints (east Dorset). Size: 1" W (2.5 cm)
