Roman Empire. Antoninus Pius (AD 138-161) for Diva Faustina I with an Important Scene. Æ Medallion 43,45 g, minted in Rome AD 147. Extremely Rare - the Third Known Example! . Obv: Draped Bust of the Empress right. Rev: Diva Faustina stands right with a torch and raises her hand to receive seeds from Triptolemus, who drives a snake-wagon, below is Tellus with an outstretched hand. Ref: Toynbee S. 93, Abb. 1; Coh. -; Gnecchi -. (not published in the standart Literature like Gnecchi and Cohen which shows the extreme rarity of this Medallion) . Exceedingly Rare- the Third known example. Pierced and slightly corroded but with the fantastic scene on the reverse and the portrait of the empress well visible, otherwise about near very fine with a natural brownish ''river'' patina.
