Roman Fish and Oar Mosaic Panel

2nd-4th century AD. A mosaic panel fragment of large (10-15mm width) tesserae depicting a fish and the oar of a boat; mounted in a matrix within a custom built frame. 7.3 kg, 52 x 53cm (20 1/2 x 21"). Acquired by the current owner in 2006 as a wedding gift; formerly in the collection of a important French gentleman, collection formed since early 1960s.
