Roman Gilt Silver Disc Brooch
2nd-3rd century AD. A silver plate brooch formed as a whorl of four La Tène double trumpets with central void and outer ring, hinged pin to the reverse. Cf. Hattatt, R. Ancient Brooches and Other Artefacts, Oxford, 1989, item 1624 for type. 19 grams, 45mm (1 3/4"). Ex North London gentleman; formerly in a private collection formed between 1990 and 2000.
