Roman Glass Bottle, ex Bonhams

**First Time At Auction**

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A gorgeous bottle formed from thick, translucent glass of a verdant blue-green hue. The elegant vessel is defined by a slightly concave base, a piriform body with a gently corseted neckline, a tall cylindrical neck, and a flared rim with an in-folded lip. Faint silvery iridescence has formed in scattered areas across the bottle that nicely complement the vessel's vibrant green hue. Size: 2.2" W x 5.75" H (5.6 cm x 14.6 cm)

Provenance: private Davis collection, Houston, Texas, USA; ex-Bonhams, London, Knightsbridge "Antiquities" auction (May 8, 2013, part of lot 171); ex-Joseph Klein collection, New York, New York, USA, formed between 1941 and 1980, thence by descent

Condition Report: One stable hairline fissure stemming from rim, with light encrustations, and micro-bubbling within glass matrix, otherwise intact and very good. Nice earthen deposits throughout, and scattered areas of faint silvery iridescence.
