Rome, Imperial, ca. 1st to 4th CE. A remarkable Roman candlestick unguent comprised of green glass and boasting truly stunning iridescence of golden and rainbow hues. The ancient vessel presents a bell-shaped body and an elongated neck that gently tapers to a flared and rolled rim. This design was made to minimize the evaporation of precious liquids like perfumes or oils, and would have played an important role in someone's toilette.
