Roman Glass Handled Jug w/ Applied Planta Pedis
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A beautiful jug of a cylindrical form, free-blown from translucent glass of a pale yellow-green hue. The vessel has a slightly concave base, a tall body with a rounded shoulder, a narrow neck, a collared rim with a smooth lip, and a vertically ribbed rigaree handle arching from the shoulder to just beneath the rim. The underside of the body features a planta pedis (maker's mark) of applied, similarly colored glass that reads "IM," and swaths of colored weathering have formed across the exterior. Size: 2.6" W x 5.7" H (6.6 cm x 14.5 cm)

Condition Report: Minor abrasions to rim, handle, body, and base, with light encrustations, micro-bubbling within glass matrix, and colored weathering across body commensurate with being placed next to something or partially submerged, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits and nice patina throughout. Applied planta pedis on base is still clear and legible.
