[ translate ]

**First Time At Auction**

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A lovely free-blown vessel of a petite size formed from translucent glass of a blue-green hue. The piece has a concave base with a smooth pontil scar, a spherical body with a rounded shoulder, a corseted neck, and a flared, in-folded rim. Lustrous silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence has formed across the exterior to create an attractive presentation. Size: 2.1" W x 2.25" H (5.3 cm x 5.7 cm).

Provenance: ex-Davis collection, Houston, Texas, acquired before 2013 from various auction houses in London and New York

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

We ship worldwide to most countries and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience.

#140271
Condition Report: Minor abrasions to base, body, and rim, with light encrustations, otherwise intact and very good. Pontil mark on underside of base. A pontil scar or mark indicates that a vessel was free-blown, while the absence of such a mark suggests that the work was either mold-blown or that the mark was intentionally smoothed away or wore away over time. Nice earthen deposits and wonderful iridescence throughout.
