Roman Gold Pendant with Gemstone

2nd-4th century AD. A rectangular gold pendant with cable border, ribbed suspension loop above, shallow box setting holding a rectangular chalcedony gemstone. Cf. The British Museum, museum number 1814,0704.1164, for a matching style earring, dated 1st-4th century AD. 1.30 grams, 13mm (1/2"). Property of a UK gentleman; acquired in Bavaria, Germany, before 2000; previously in a collection since 1995.
