Roman Gold Ring with Biga Gemstone

3rd-4th century AD. A delicate gold ring with plaited shank and applied filigree wire, bezel with filigree rim, inset carnelian intaglio engraved with winged Victory in biga. 3.38 grams, 22.70mm overall, 19.94x15.63mm internal diameter (approximate size British N, USA 6 1/2, Europe 13.72, Japan 13) (3/4"). From the property of a London gentleman; previously in a a Munich, German, collection formed 1970-1990s.
