Roman Gold Ring with Figural Gemstone

2nd-3rd century AD. A gold ring with flat hoop, applied granules to the shoulders, waisted cell with inset carnelian cloison with intaglio standing robed figure handing a sword to a facing seated figure. 6.18 grams, 21.82mm overall, 15.75mm internal diameter (approximate size British I, USA 4 1/2, Europe 7.44, Japan 7) (1"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired in the early 2000s; formerly with a Slough collector since the 1980s.
