Roman Holy Land Pottery Pitcher

Roman, Holy Land, the Levant, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A tall pottery pitcher of elegant form presenting with a petite discoid base and rising walls that spread outward and then corset inward at a softly sloped shoulder to a long neck that ends with an annular flared rim. A lovely ribbon-like handle connects the shoulder to midway up the neck. Nice creamy white deposits accent this ancient vessel, adding depth to its surface and imbuing it with a rich aesthetic evocative of the eastern Roman empire. Size: 2.625" in diameter x 13" H (6.7 cm x 33 cm); 13.75" H (34.9 cm) on included custom stand.
