1st-2nd century AD. A bronze figure fragment of a leaping hound with forepaws extended, harness to the shoulders, tail flat along the hindlegs with curled tip; possibly a skillet handle. Cf. zoomorphic jug handle in Roberts, P. Life and Death in Pompeii and Herculaneum, London, 2013, item 295 (wine jug"). 198 grams, 14.5cm (5 3/4").
