Roman Marble Statue Foot

1st-2nd century AD. A finely carved marble left foot and ankle, once belonging to a larger statue, modelled in the round with detailing to the toes and nail beds. See The Metropolitan Museum, accession number 23.160.22, for a similar form in bronze. 1 kg, 18cm (7"). From an important English collection, since the 1980s; this lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by AIAD certificate number no.10775-177434.
