Fannius are shown in their functions in connection with corn-distributions. Remarkable is the subsellium which proves that Critonius and Fannius were plebeian Aediles. This office was invented in 494 to help the Tribunus Plebis. Plebeian Aediles were only allowed to sit on a bench called subsellium, while the Curule Aediles were allowed to sit on a sella curulis and wear the toga praetexta.
