Roman Terracotta Standing Figure - Satyr w/ Wine Skin

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A charming hollow-molded terracotta figure of a satyr standing atop an integral circular platform. Nude save for a twisted waist band, the satyr presents with his bearded head leaning forward and attentively knotting the upper nozzle of a wine skin made from a goat. His sagging chest, bulbous abdomen, recessed eyes, and lack of hair indicates his advanced age, and traces of pink pigmentation indicate this figure was at one time painted with vivid colors. Size: 2.125" W x 5.625" H (5.4 cm x 14.3 cm).

Condition Report: Repaired from two large halves with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Minor nicks to base, body, and head, with softening to some finer details, and fading to original pigmentation. Light earthen deposits throughout.
