A Roman bronze figurine of Mercury seated sideways on an eagle, c. 2nd Century AD, wearing a winged petasos and a chlamys and holding a purse. His features are nicely detailed and overall an interesting depiction. H: 2 1/8 in (5.5 cm). Nice glossy green patina with darker highlights. Exhibited: The New York International Antiquarian Fine Art Fair, New York, November 2001. Ex J.M.E. collection, New York, acquired at Bonham's London in April 2000.
