Roman form bronze dog head Curule seat,1970s
Roman form bronze dog head Curule seat
Dimensions: 26 inches wide x 17 inches deep x 17 inches tall
Davids notes: A very unusual and finely made piece, this would have been expensive when it was first made, probably in the 1970s.Estimated weight 70 pounds.
It is solid bronze, with Labrador retriever heads at all four corners, and a bronze basket weave seat. The legs are fur design in bronze, and the other sections borrow on 18th century Louis XVI and Charles 10th X-form stretchers and window seat designs. If you were to make one today it would probably cost around 16,000.00.
