A choice Roman bronze furniture or chariot attachment in the form of woman, c. 1st - 2nd Century AD, likely Venus, wearing a tall diadem, her features quite beautiful and her hair in waves which descend along her shoulders. Behind is a square box-like attachment with rectangular opening at the end and rougher rectangular opening below, likely to fit wooden beams. 2 3/4 x 2 x 1 3/4 in (7 x 5 x 4.4 cm). Nicely patinated and a lovely piece! Ex Maine private collection.
