Romano-Egyptian Painted Wooden Panel

A rectangular wooden panel with bulge to the middle; three vertical painted panels on a prepared ground, each comprising a profile kilted figure holding a was sceptre in the left hand and an ankh in the right; top: unidentified god with human head wearing a Nemes-style headdress; middle: ram-headed Khnum, protector of the source of the Nile; bottom: falcon-headed Horus, sky god; each with a vertical band of damaged hieroglyphic text identifying the figures to the right edge of the panel; mounted on a custom-made stand. Property of a French gentleman; acquired from at Hotel Drouot, Paris, France, 30 September 1997, lot 622; formerly in the M.
