Romano Egyptian Terracotta / Faience Figures (3)

Egypt, Ptolemaic to Romano-Egyptian period, ca. 30 BCE to 100 CE. A fine gathering of three mold-formed figures, the two largest made from light-brown terracotta, and the shortest figure made from white faience. The shortest figure shows a man seated atop an integral tiered plinth, presenting nude with layers of red pigment, and holding his enormous phallus with both hands. The second figure features a man holding a small cup and supporting his leaning body with one extended arm. The largest piece bears a nude figure seated next to an assortment of legs and lower bodies on a neighboring lounge. Both larger pieces exhibit traces of original red-orange pigmentation that suggests they were painted with vivid colors when first created. Size of largest (figure on lounge): 9.6" W x 6.125" H (24.4 cm x 15.6 cm).

Condition Report: All three items have losses to bodies, heads, and/or other figures as shown. All items have nicks and abrasions to bodies, heads, and bases, with fading to original pigment, and softening to finer details. Nice traces of original pigment throughout. Old inventory labels beneath each base.
