Romano-Egyptian Terracotta Statuette of a Female
**Originally Listed At $400**
Egypt, Romano-Egyptian period, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. A hollow-form terracotta figure molded to resemble the form of a standing female musician. She plays a simple tambourine held by her left hand and tapped with her right. She wears a flowing knee-length robe which covers her breasts and shoulders, with a centrally-parted coiffure tucked beneath an arching head band. The pale-orange terracotta is embellished with dense red pigmentation, adding to her a sense of movement and rhythm.
