He was awarded the Royal Designer for Industry (RDI) in recognition of his "sustained excellence in aesthetic and efficient design for industry" in 2002. The Rocking Chair created by Ron Arad, with his masterfully unconventional style, Voido is a rocking chair, designed in 2006, that looks like a piece of contemporary sculpture, but is made using industrial technology capable of producing large yet light shapes: rotational-moulded polyethylene. Voido's sleek, ergonomic volumes welcome the body into a flowing embrace, but its seeming simplicity hides considerable complex research and engineering. Voido is available in a glossy black finish, for an irresistibly glamorous effect, perfect for the most sophisticated of environments, or in a matt version, in a range of colours to fit in with any space and style, including outdoors, thanks to the water- and weather-proof nature of the polyethylene.
