Ronald Reagan ALS After Attending 1986 G7 Summit, Chernobyl Association; JSA LOA
ALS

An autographed letter from President Ronald Reagan, affectionately signed as "Ron" to actor Phil Regan (1906-1996). 1p on personalized White House stationery, 4" x 6", Washington, D.C., May 13, [1986]. Writing shortly after his return to Washington from the G7 Summit in Japan, the president is gratified by the support of his friend and jokingly remarks on the effects of jet lag. Together with its original transmittal envelope, also addressed in Reagan's hand. Light offsetting to both, with scattered soiling and handling marks throughout. Letter shows isolated mounting remnants and minor surface loss to the upper margin verso. Otherwise, very good. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from JSA.

In full:

"Have just received your very kind letter and generous words. Thank you very much. Now all I need to feel really good is to get back to sleeping on Wash. time. There ought to be a vaccine for jet lag.
Nancy sends her love & from both of us to Jo."

Reagan attended the 12th annual G7 Summit in Tokyo on May 4, 1986. Among the topics discussed were ensuring a global free trade market, as well as issues of state-sponsored terrorism and environmental concerns. These talks occurred a little over a week after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster on April 26, which cast a pall over the proceedings. Indeed, Reagan and the other attendees would demand an explanation from the Soviet Union on their handling of the situation.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
