Half-title, frontispiece printed in colors, title printed in green, contemporary manuscript entries throughout in ink and pencil in various hands, page 67 signed and dated by Roosevelt, with a pencil sketch by Davenport; minor toning. Original blue cloth, cover decoratively lettered in white with rope motif, decorative endpapers, extremities rubbed, one or two spots.

My Ocean Trip was issued by Brentano's as a diary, and used as a guest books for the S.S.Cleveland. One inscription (page 44) suggests that the original owner of the book was a Mrs. Templar. Page 67 features the signature of Theodore Roosevelt, dated 17 June 1910, together with the signature of the political cartoonist Homer Davenport, and an original sketch of Roosevelt by Davenport. In 1904 Davenport had been hired by the New York Evening Mail, a Republican paper, and whilst there drew a cartoon of Roosevelt that boosted Roosevelt's election campaign that year. Following this, the two forged a friendship.
