Rosenthal Studio-Linie Artist Cup No. 11 by Johan van Loon
This set consists of a coffee cup and matching saucer in white porcelain, designed by the Dutch ceramicist Johan van Loon for the Rosenthal Studio-Linie. The design is modern and organic; the cup features an asymmetrical, tapered rim and a flat, curved handle. The saucer is designed in an irregular, almost square shape with wavy edges reminiscent of folded material. Both pieces feature blue underglaze decoration with a sfumato effect, where the deep blue at the base blends smoothly into the white of the porcelain body.
Black printed marks are located on the underside of the cup and saucer. The mark shows a crown above the Rosenthal lettering, followed by studio-linie, GERMANY, Künstlertasse Nr. 11 and Johan van Loon. Additionally, a printed signature of the artist van Loon is visible on both pieces as well as on the outside of the cup handle.
