Dahlia ‘Arc de Triomphe’, (Dahlia Triomphe). Louis Rousselon (19th century). Orginial watercolors for Louis Rousselon’s Annales de flores et pommes. A beautiful and early French horticultural periodical, a rival to Curtis’s Botanical Magazine in the quality of its plates. Several illustrious French botanical illustrators and engravers were involved in this journal, including Edouard Maubert (1806-1879). All works are stamped ‘Bibliotheque Societe Nationalle d’Horticulture’ on verso with pencil and pen annotations by the publisher, Paris, 1832-1848.
