Rudolf Gratz (German, 1820-1893). Antique 19th century oil painting on canvas. Religious allegorical work depicting the Virgin mother Mary and Infant Jesus in a nativity scene. Painting after a portion of the works titled "Holy Night" by Allegri da Correggio (Italian, 1489-1534). Artist signature at lower left. Presented in a wooden frame. Canvas stamped in German on top corner verso with an old hand inscribed label detailing information about the work. Provenance: This item originated from a distinguished auction event hosted by Sotheby's in October 1995, designated as LOT 2860 at the Neues Schloss (New Castle), Baden-Baden, Germany. It was a part of the royal collection belonging to Margrave Max von Baden (1933-2022), a prominent figure in European aristocracy and the first cousin of Prince Charles III.
