Rudolf Hausner (1914-1995) - Trauriger Europäer
Rudolf Hausner is considered an outstanding representative of the Viennese School of Fantastic Realism. The "Sad European" from 1978 is a variation on a motif that Hausner called the "fool's hat". The fool's hat is conceived as a counterpoint to Hausner's lifelong leitmotif of "Adam": thin and melancholic in contrast to the athletic figure of Adam.
